Information for schools
If you are a school or other organisation looking for a way to support your children’s mental health, then Play Therapy can help. I can come into schools on a weekly basis to support individual children or groups of children. All you will need to provide is a consistent, confidential room for me to work in each week and access to a sink for washing paints etc after each session. If you are able to offer a small amount of storage for the child’s work, that would be beneficial but not essential. I offer different types of package:
Sessional
Starting from £50 per session (invoiced monthly on a self-employed basis).
Sessional rate includes:
Individual 40-minute sessions for each child on a weekly basis, with at least 20-minute clear up/set up time needed in between.
Basic initial and ending questionnaires and discussions with staff members and parent/carer for each child.
All materials and play equipment required for the sessions.
Group play therapy is also available but will be charged at a higher rate. Any other requirements such as parent meetings, training, reports or input to school discussions/meetings will be subject to additional fees. I work with each child for a minimum of 15 sessions to ensure a safe and effective process for them.
Full package
If schools are looking for a more comprehensive support package for their school, they may prefer to employ me as a member of their school staff for either half days or full days each week. As a member of the school staff, I can include a lot more within this package.
The full package includes:
All the sessions for individual children or small groups that can be fitted into that period of time (individual sessions would still be 40 minutes each, with at least 20 minutes between, group sessions may be longer).
More flexibility on whether I see groups or individuals at no additional cost.
Access to my input and support in between the sessions, for example for staff discussions, classroom observations and advice.
All parent meetings and reports required for the children I am seeing.
Input to any other meetings relating to those children, such as TAF meetings.
Attendance at one staff meeting per term if required (subject to timings and my availability). This can be used to gain my input into whole school initiatives, support staff with parent evenings/reports for my focus children or for me to run staff training on areas of interest around mental health and student support.
All materials and play equipment required for the sessions can be provided by me, or I can work with the school to set up a playroom of their own, which could then be used for other interventions through the week.
Private work in school
In some schools, there may be parents/carers who have the means to fund the sessions themselves, where the school is unable to. I am happy to work on this basis if the school can provide the confidential space for me to work.
